Created in close collaboration with the band, Forever Immortal is the official biography of Greek black metal pioneers Varathron. It traces their journey from humble beginnings in the late 1980s to their present-day successes, drawing on candid interviews and personal recollections to capture both struggle and triumph.
Central to the narrative are the insights of co-founder and vocalist Stefan Necroabyssious, alongside the past and present members of the band. Their story is enriched by key figures within Greek metal – such as Spiros ‘Captain Death’, Jim Mutilator and Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ), and The Magus (Necromantia) – as well as musicians from international acts inspired by Varathron’s enduring influence.
Featuring hundreds of photographs and illustrations spanning every era – many previously unseen – this revealing volume offers a comprehensive and intimate portrait of the band. The result is an essential work for longtime devotees and black metal enthusiasts alike, cementing Varathron’s international legacy. "Sometime in the early 2000s, I met Giorgos (Kerveros) and we formed Chaotic Symmetry. We were both deeply into majestic, bizarre and occult black metal, and we released a demo featuring Stefan from VARATHRON as a guest. Giorgos introduced me to him, and I soon became the new guitarist of Varathron. Giorgos continued the band without me, but a couple of years ago we recorded some new material together, and a release is coming soon by Oneiric Terror Records! I had the pleasure of producing it (Suncord Audiolab) and also playing the guitars, so check it out. Kudos to Marios of Hell Poemer (Official) for his haunting compositions and majestic keyboards."
